Joseph A. Jolson
Chairman & CEO, JMP Group
CEO, Harvest Capital StrategiesJoe Jolson co-founded JMP Group and is its Chief Executive Officer, the Chairman of its board of directors and a member of its executive committee. Additionally, he is Chief Executive Officer of asset management subsidiary Harvest Capital Strategies and is a portfolio manager of the Harvest Opportunity Partners II hedge fund strategy, which invests in the financial services and business services industries.
Joe was previously a Senior Managing Director and senior equity research analyst at Montgomery Securities, now Banc of America Securities. In 1984, he established Montgomery Securities’ non-bank financial services research group, covering California and regional thrifts, government-sponsored enterprises, specialty lenders and mortgage finance companies over the next 15 years. In 1989, he initiated the firm’s real estate practice; and, in 1994, he launched its auto services effort. Joe was a consulting research analyst at Fidelity Management and Research in 1983 and 1984 and at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette from 1980 through 1982, following the financial services industry as well as selected emerging growth companies in both instances.
Joe was named to Institutional Investor magazine’s All-America Research Team for ten consecutive years, between 1986 and 1995, for his coverage of the savings and loan industry and was also selected as an All-Star Analyst in the financial services category by The Wall Street Journal in 1996 and 1997. Additionally, he was ranked as a top-five thrift analyst by Greenwich Associates every year from 1985 through 1994.
Joe received an MBA with distinction from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA degree from Yale University.

Chairman, Harvest Capital StrategiesCraig Johnson is Vice Chairman of JMP Group and a member of its executive committee. He is also Chairman of Harvest Capital Strategies. Craig previously served as President of JMP Group, from 2007 through 2010, and as President of JMP Securities, from 2002 until 2007. He is co-portfolio manager of the JMP Masters fund.
Prior to joining JMP in 2002, Craig was a founding member of Saw Island Asset Advisors, an alternative investment firm specializing in hedge fund investments that was acquired by Harvest Capital Strategies in 2003. Craig spent twenty years, from 1980 through 2000, at Montgomery Securities and its successor, Banc of America Securities, most recently as director of global institutional sales and a member of the firm’s executive committee.
Craig holds a BA in economics from Stanford University.

Carter Mack is a co-founder of JMP Group and serves as its President. He is also a member of the executive committee of JMP Group and serves on its board of directors. From the company’s inception in 1999 through 2010, Carter served as Director of Investment Banking at JMP Securities; and, from 2007 through 2010, he additionally served as Co-President of JMP Securities.
Prior to founding JMP, Carter served as a Managing Director in the financial services investment banking group at Montgomery Securities, now Banc of America Securities, from 1996 to 1999. He previously spent five years in investment banking at Merrill Lynch focused on financial institutions. During his career, Carter has been involved in corporate finance and merger and acquisition transactions totaling more than $40 billion in value.
Carter holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Director of EquitiesMark Lehmann is President and Director of Equities of JMP Securities. He is also a member of the executive committee of JMP Group and serves on its board of directors.
Prior to joining JMP in 2003, Mark was a Managing Director at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, where he initiated and managed the firm’s middle-market sales effort. Mark previously served as both the Global Director of Institutional Sales and the Global Director of Equity Research at Banc of America Securities after working as an institutional salesperson at the firm and its predecessor, Montgomery Securities, for 10 years.
Mark holds a JD from the New York University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois. He is also a certified public accountant.

Head of Real Estate & Lodging Investment BankingKent Ledbetter is Director of Investment Banking and head of real estate and lodging investment banking at JMP Securities. In addition, he is a member of the executive committee of JMP Group.
Kent joined JMP Group in 2004 as a Managing Director. From 2007 through 2010, he served as Director of Corporate Finance. Prior to joining JMP, Kent was in the real estate investment banking group at Lehman Brothers, based in London and San Francisco. He was previously a Senior Vice President in real estate investment banking at PaineWebber Incorporated. During his 21-year career, Kent has been involved in more than $20 billion of public debt and equity capital raising transactions and more than $10 billion of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions.
Kent holds a BBA in finance from the University of Oklahoma.

Tom Wright is a Managing Director and is JMP Securities’ Director of Equities.
Before joining JMP, Tom served as global head of trading at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. for eight years. During the ten prior years, he held a variety of leadership positions at Merrill Lynch & Co., most recently as head of European equity trading and salestrading and previously as head of U.S. equity trading and salestrading. Tom was also a vice president and Nasdaq salestrader at Goldman Sachs & Co. for eight years. He began his career at Merrill Lynch & Co. on the Nasdaq desk in 1983.
Tom received an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business and a BS in economics and finance from Boston College.

Jeff Spurr is a Managing Director and is JMP Securities’ Director of Research.
Jeff previously served as JMP’s Director of Product Management, focused on the optimization of the firm’s equity research product, from 2007 through 2011 and as Director of Institutional Sales from 2005 through 2009. Prior to joining JMP, Jeff was a Vice President in equity sales at Morgan Stanley with coverage of major west coast institutional clients and was a Managing Director in institutional sales at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities. Beforehand, he was a portfolio manager at Reindeer Capital, L.P. and the general partner of The Steelhead Fund, L.P. Jeff’s earlier investment and financial advisory experience includes roles in the real estate investment banking group of Coldwell Banker Commercial, the acquisition and development arm of American Continental Properties, the mergers and acquisitions department of E.F. Hutton and the corporate sale/leaseback division of Integrated Resources.
Jeff holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College and a BA from the University of Vermont.

Dan Wychulis is a Managing Director and is Director of Institutional Sales.
Dan previously served as JMP’s Director of East Coast Sales. Prior to making the transition to institutional sales in 2002, Dan spent two years in JMP’s investment banking group with a focus on financial services. From 1998 through 2000, Dan worked in the investment banking department at Sandler O’Neill & Partners, providing M&A and capital raising services for banks and thrifts.

Ray Jackson is a Managing Director and is Chief Financial Officer of JMP Group.
Prior to joining JMP, Ray was corporate controller and an executive officer at Redwood Trust, a publicly traded mortgage REIT. He was previously a senior manager for three years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the financial services and banking industry practice in San Francisco. He also spent five years with KPMG as a senior audit manager and audit manager in San Francisco and the UK and spent three years with Deloitte & Touche in the UK.
Ray holds a BS degree with honors from Loughborough University in England and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Chief Legal Officer
Scott Solomon is a Managing Director and the Chief Legal Officer of JMP Group.
Before joining JMP, Scott was the General Counsel of a Los Angeles-based financial and strategic advisory firm formed by several former officers of Houlihan Lokey. He previously served as the General Counsel of Youbet.com, a public company that was acquired by Churchill Downs. Scott was also the first General Counsel of Houlihan Lokey, an international investment banking firm. He began his legal career at Sidley & Austin.
Scott holds a JD from The University of California, Los Angeles and a BS in accountancy from The University of Illinois.

Mercedes Broening is a Managing Director and is Chief Information Officer of JMP Group.
Mercedes brings fifteen years of technology management experience to her role. Prior to joining JMP, she was responsible for technology infrastructure and development for Tularik, Inc. Additionally, she has held senior technology management and project management roles with Volt Technical Services and PG&E.
Mercedes holds a BA in chemistry from University of California, Berkeley.

Gil Mogavero is a Managing Director and is Chief Compliance Officer of JMP Securities.
Prior to joining JMP, Gil was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Mitchum, Jones & Templeton, a San Francisco-based brokerage firm, with oversight of compliance and operations. Gil previously spent a year at Robertson Stephens as vice president of operations. From 1987 through 1996, Gil served as head of compliance and operations at Volpe, Welty & Company, where he established the firm’s brokerage operations, compliance procedures and communications infrastructure. Earlier in his career, Gil held compliance and operations positions at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Oppenheimer & Co., among other financial institutions.
